Rogerson Kenny’s journey began in 1976 when Peter Rogerson acquired the practice from Ross Graham, establishing himself as a sole practitioner at 251 Blackburn Road, Mount Waverley. This laid the foundation for a client-focused firm built on trust, expertise and long-term relationships – values that continue to define the business today.
1984
A New Generation Joins
The firm took an important step forward in 1984 when Brett Kenny joined as an accountant. His arrival brought fresh perspective and energy, complementing Peter’s experience. This partnership would prove instrumental in shaping the firm’s future direction, combining strong technical capability with a shared vision for growth and client service excellence.
1993
Building a Stronger Practice
In 1993, Peter Rogerson and Brett Kenny partnered with Peter Sawyer to form Rogerson, Kenny & Sawyer. This collaboration expanded the firm’s expertise and service offering, allowing it to cater to a broader client base. It was a pivotal moment that transitioned the business from a small practice into a more structured and scalable firm.
1997
Rogerson Kenny Emerges
By 1997, the firm evolved into Rogerson Kenny, reflecting a refined brand identity and a clear direction for the future. This change symbolised stability, growth, and a commitment to strengthening the firm’s presence in the market while maintaining its personalised approach to client relationships.
2002
A Step Ahead in Location
In 2002, the firm relocated its office to Suite 13, 241 Blackburn Road, Mount Waverley, just 10 metres from its original home. While physically a small move, it represented a significant step forward in terms of growth, professionalism, and the firm’s readiness to accommodate an expanding team and client base.
2005
Emerging Talent
The mid-2000s marked a period of investment in future leadership. Rob Deayton joined the firm as a graduate in 2003, followed by Mark Rogerson in 2004. These additions signalled a commitment to developing internal talent and ensuring continuity in leadership, positioning the firm for long-term sustainability.
2011
Leadership Evolution
In 2011, Mark Rogerson and Rob Deayton became directors alongside Peter Rogerson and Brett Kenny, forming Rogerson Kenny Business Accountants. With a growing team of 12 staff, this milestone marked a generational shift in leadership. It combined experience with innovation, strengthening the firm’s strategic direction and service capabilities.
2021
Expanding Leadership
In 2021, Matt Dunn joined the firm as a director, bringing new expertise and perspective to the leadership team. His appointment reflected the firm’s ongoing evolution and commitment to adapting to modern business needs while continuing to deliver high-quality advisory services.
2023
Continuing to Lead in SMSF
Historically recognised as a leader in SMSF accounting, Rogerson Kenny further strengthened its expertise in 2023 with the appointment of Associate Director, Sarah Davie, enhancing the firm’s specialist capability in superannuation strategy, compliance and advisory services.
2024
Introducing Rogerson Kenny Finance
2024 marked a significant expansion beyond accounting with the launch of Rogerson Kenny Finance, bringing together strategic lending and accounting expertise under one roof.
After decades of helping business owners grow, structure and invest successfully, the firm expanded into finance broking to provide integrated lending solutions aligned with clients’ long term financial goals.
To lead this next chapter, highly experienced commercial banking and finance specialist Ryan Donovan joined the business as Director of Rogerson Kenny Finance, further strengthening the firm’s capability across commercial, business and complex lending.
2026
Celebrating 50 years
2026 sees Rogerson Kenny celebrate its 50th anniversary in business – along with the opportunity to embrace the firm’s continued growth and take the next step into a new home.
Now bringing together accounting, SMSF advisory and finance services under one roof, the firm has grown to a team of more than 35 professionals. This growth has driven the move to a modern, high-end facility in Mulgrave, creating a space designed to support collaboration, enhance the client experience and position the business strongly for the future.
